Health Visitors

You can contact them on 01628 530846 or 01628 526149. There is an answerphone for you to leave a message if there is no-one in the office. Our health visitors specialise in the care of the newborn and the elderly. They are qualified nurses with special training and experience in child health, health promotion and education. They offer practical support and advice to expectant and postnatal mothers and to families with pre-school age children. They help with infant care, feeding and general parenting issues. They will monitor the growth and development of our younger patients at the baby clinic and via the regular child health surveillance checks.

Well Baby Clinics

These are run by the health visitors and offer developmental checks and general advice at the following times and locations:

Our district nurse team provides skilled care at home for the elderly, for patients recently discharged from hospital and those with chronic illness or disability who are housebound.
The district nursing team can be contacted on 0844 225 2418.

We have a midwife attached to the practice who holds an antenatal clinic at Pound House Surgery every Tuesday morning. She is available at other times for advice, and messages can be left at the surgery on 01628 530 997 or the community midwives office on 01494 425172/3.

The midwives and health visitors run antenatal and parentcraft classes for first-time parents and offer a refresher class for subsequent pregnancies. The midwife offers care in the immediate postnatal period. The health visitor will then take over your care after approximately 10 days.

All doctors carry out medical examinations, eg for HGV, driving and employment. They also prepare medical reports for health or life insurance or mortgage applications.

A fee will be charged for these services (which will be payable in advance), in line with the BMA-approved fee scale as the NHS does not cover them. Our receptionists can advise you of the current charges, or you can CLICK HERE to view the price list now.
